Thinking that learning can only happen in the classroom is like thinking that exercise can only happen in the gym. There is not just one route to a great education, and we are here to help guide those families who are forging their own paths.
We are Together.
Learning is a discussion. A chance to ask questions. A chance to be heard. This only happens when we learn together. Relationships are at the heart of what we do.
We are Tutor Led Learning.
Thanks for dropping by. If you’re looking for qualified and experienced tutors who put relationships at the heart of what they do you’ve come to the right place. In 2017 we both made what seemed like a huge leap and swapped classrooms for dining rooms – we haven’t looked back!
Our passion is to work with Home Educated children, to nurture their individual interests, spark new curiosities and further invigorate the learning process. Working with us you can rest assured your children will love their learning whilst laying the proper foundations for future examinations, if they choose to take them.
Andy Milson BSc, PGCE
My varied careers in business and education mean I am able to offer a breadth of lessons to children educated at home. I studied Biology, Psychology and Education at University and have since worked in events management, in research for the NHS and in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services). I’m interested in all types of science from Astronomy to Zoology, politics, board games and anything to do with the natural world.
David Martin MA, PGCE
I have been working with HomeEd families since 2018 and haven’t looked back! I studied a wide range of subjects at university including English, Creative Writing, Philosophy and History, and love being able to explore these topics with our students. Having ran a mental health training company, I believe student wellbeing is one of the most important factors for helping children succeed. I’m also interested in mechanics, music and all sorts of literature.
Relationships are at the heart of what we do
We all learn best when we are relaxed, motivated and engaged. This is why we put relationships at the heart of what we do – relationships with students, relationships between students and relationships with parents and carers.
To get the learning relationship off to a great start, we give you the option to tell us a bit more about your child’s learning style and interests.
We send a free weekly newsletter with questions to prompt tea-time discussions and give you an insight into what learning has taken place.
All lessons are carefully prepared making the most of opportunities for interaction to engage and inspire (polls, quizzes, collaborative Google docs etc).
Not sure how we might support your Home Ed journey? Book into a free consultation and we can explore how we can help (tea and biscuits optional!).
All topic tickets come with a free personalised certificate. Very useful for keeping a track of learning, sticking on bedroom walls or showing to Local Authorities.
Got a question about resources, exam prep, specifications or any other learning related queries? Drop us an email and we’ll get back to you.
Two Ways to Learn
All our lessons are live, interactive and led by dedicated subject specialists. Our lessons run as either…
Limited to only 10 places, our Tutorial Groups prioritise strong relationships between tutors and students. Working together we build confidence, inspire a love of learning, and help students discover motivation they never knew they had.
These lessons allow students to study socially focussed subjects at an affordable price. Why not explore subjects like Politics, Philosophy, Media and Ecology? Time to think outside the box, and learn differently, together.
Written and taught by qualified subject specialists with significant experience of helping students prepare for GCSE level study. Lessons encompass the KS3 National Curriculum and include extra content that follows students’ interests; helping connect learning to the wider world!
Specially created to stimulate interest in subjects not often available in mainstream education. We believe a broad education is the best education; no one knows what the future holds. Ages given are just a guide – you’re the expert in what level of study your child is ready for.
Whatever your choice, you can be assured of live, interactive lessons taught by friendly, professional tutors putting happy students at the heart of what they do. A love of life-long learning starts here!
English is about communication. About connecting with others in meaningful, powerful ways. Our English lessons focus on developing reading and writing skills through interactive and engaging lessons. Students can write live in their lessons, receive immediate feedback and try out creative ideas without feeling under pressure to get everything right straight away.
We currently offer a Maths topic called ‘Maths for Science’ which is aimed at an upper KS2 / lower KS3 level. The focus of this topic is developing understanding of key mathematical concepts used in science eg measuring, graphs and percentages. These live and interactive, small group lessons are perfect for boosting confidence in Maths.
Our two year KS3 programme covers everything on the KS3 National Curriculum and a whole lot more besides! Six-week topic blocks covering Physics, Chemistry and Biology are offered to small groups of no more than 10 students. Lessons are live and interactive – students can use their cameras and microphones and have their questions answered directly by the tutor in real-time.
Media & Politics
Is your child interested in the bigger picture? These two topics give students a chance to explore big issues affecting all our lives. In these live and interactive lessons students will be encouraged to think for themselves and interact through quizzes and polls.
Psychology & Mental Health
These topics give young people a chance to learn about managing that huge supercomputer sitting in their heads! With lessons ranging from Perception and Memory to Emotional Intelligence and Stress and Resilience these related topics should make for fascinating learning for many teens.
We’re always challenging ourselves and keeping our own learning fresh by writing new topics covering diverse areas such as Astronomy, Ecology and Philosophy. If you’re an outstanding tutor who shares our values get in touch – we’d love to offer our growing community even more!

Don't just take our word for it, listen to the experts
Mrs Evans, York
"Our anxious 11 year old son was very stressed about starting English lessons with a tutor, having struggled with English in High School. He was at ease with David straight away and after his first lesson was the most enthused I've ever seen him about English."
Mrs Warren, Bakewell
My son looks forward to his lessons every week
"I have noticed my son's confidence and engagement in the subject has greatly improved and that is a direct result of the enthusiasm and encouragement he has had from Andy, his science tutor."
Stacey E, Wilberfoss
He was beaming :)
"When you finished he was beaming and said it was the best lesson he's ever had!!! I think he was so relieved as he'd been worrying about it and then to really enjoy it was fantastic for him."
Lindsay W, Felixstowe
Boosted his confidence
I just wanted to say how much my son’s lessons with David have boosted his confidence. He used to seriously doubt himself. Now he believes he is capable. He even looks forward to English now! Thank you so much :)

Encouraging and Engaging
The sessions are encouraging and engaging with a focus on learning and questioning rather than cramming for assessment. As a home educating parent it is important to me that my child learns in a way where they feel they are an active participant and there isn’t a focus on what is right or wrong.
