This specially created practical day will give GCSE level students a solid grounding in the importance of practical science. Aimed specifically at students who are ready to think more deeply about the practical aspect of science:

  1. Understand why practical investigations are important in science (and how they contribute to good exam performance)
  2. Develop understanding of the scientific method and its application to various investigations
  3. Improve scientific vocabulary relating to the scientific method
  4. Deepen knowledge and understanding of scientific principles

The schedule for the day is currently as follows (subject to change communicated via email):

  • from 10:30am arrival
  • 10:45am prompt, start – housekeeping / safety / outline of the day
  • 12:00ish break
  • 1:30ish lunch (bring pack-up)
  • 3.45pm end

The exact list of practicals is to be confirmed but all will relate directly to the English National Science Curriculum for science. The day will be hands on with students getting to use a broad range of specialist scientific equipment and chemicals (all risk assessed).

Tickets are non-transferable (ie for your sole use only). Directions to the venue and other relevant information will be provided via email. The minimum number of students required for this day to take place is 4, if these numbers are not met you will be advised in advance and a full refund will be issued.

Tutor Andy

Andy Milson BSc, PGCE

Andy is a qualified and experienced science teacher who has worked as both a secondary school teacher and a private tutor since 2009. He has also worked in research for the NHS and in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services). Andy’s love of science started as a child when he used to create fact files about plants and animals. Andy is interested in all types of science from Astronomy to Zoology and likes to help his students link their learning to everyday life. Andy is a co-founder of Tutor Led Learning.
