Description

We all know that we learn better when our mental health is good. We also gain deep joy and satisfaction from learning. Learning and good mental health are dependent on one another.

Shortly after starting TLL in 2020 Tutors Andy and Dave collaborated on writing two mental health topics. These topics, based on years of experience working in mental health related fields (CAMHS,  NHS mental health research, mental health first aid training, Psychology degree etc) are designed to help young people (13+) better understand what is meant by mental health, how to understand it and how to develop lifelong strategies to improve it.

This first topic features engaging and accessible lessons on:

  1. Introduction to mental health
  2. Self-esteem and resilience
  3. Better mental health
  4. Stress and anxiety
  5. Psychological conditions 1
  6. Psychological conditions 2

The topic will be run on a webinar basis with cameras off. It is most suitable for students aged 13+ though individual requirements will of course vary. The sessions do not constitute professional medical opinion and no specific advice will be given. Sessions will be run in a similar way to all other teaching with a sharing of useful information and ideas and invitations to contribute (via Zoom chat). Students will not be asked any personal questions, just general points of view relating to the session.

*NB Term 4 is 5 weeks long due to an early Easter
